The birth of "Casa al Vento" constitutes a new challenge for the Gioffreda family who just over 10 years ago dedicated passion and energy to the project of bringing prestige to an ancient medieval village in the territory of Gaiole in Chianti by realizing an exclusive and refined structure to accommodate tourists. Farmhouses and barns , which had once been the homes of peasants and sharecroppers , were restructured and renewed turning them into desirable holiday homes . Soon after, the work concentrated its attention on the vineyards, gradually substituting the old plants with new clones of Sangiovese and Merlot. Vineyards wrenched out of an uncontaminated landscape suddenly appear amongst the steep slopes which surround the village, caressed by the sun and the breeze. The same care was taken when renewing and enlarging the olive grove. "Casa al Vento" annually produces about 30,000 bottles of Chianti Classico and IGT Toscana and 5000 bottles of Chianti Classico Dop. The great interest in natural agronomic methods which are less invasive has lead to the decision to take the difficult path towards being registered as a biological estate, which gives more value to the wine production while safeguarding health and environment .
